Environmental Policy

The board of directors are committed to working with the local authority with the aim of being environmentally friendly and in so doing will take the appropriate measures to comply with the terms of the process authorisation. That is to:

Ensure that all operations are undertaken in such a way so as to ensure that there are no particulate emissions that exceed 10mg/m3 as defined in the process guidelines PG6/28(97).

Implement a general policy of dust containment at source by maintaining a policy of good housekeeping at all times

Ensure that the relevant staff are appropriately trained, qualified and / or skilled in the activities concerned with the manufacturing operations and control of particulate emissions, particularly for start-up, shut down and abnormal conditions.

Remove any spillage of material within the site boundary immediately.

Carry out stack monitoring of Particulate Emissions in accordance BS3405:1983 and at the prescribed intervals as required by the local enforcing authority.

Ensure that stack emission testing is carried out by an approved contractor.

Maintain essential spares to enable rapid response to breakdown and carry out modifications to the arrestment plant in accordance with the requirements of the Local Authority or its authorised officers.

Promptly deal with any malfunction or breakdown leading to abnormal emissions and where necessary adjust the process operations to minimise the emission of prescribed substances to the atmosphere. All such malfunctions will be recorded.

Report to the Local Authority within 48 hours of any incident where visible emission is observed or an emission appears to have occurred and immediately if an emission is likely to have had effect on any property beyond the site boundary.
